Too Soon…

Today is one of those days that you have a fairly good idea of what you need to do and have the plan all laid out only to get a phone call about some urgent concerns of a family member.

You recompose, offer your assistance and get back to the script and all seems to go according to plan you complete an audit of your work processes and you even get some good news and you are quite happy then you get a breaking news…there has been a plane crash and over 140 people are dead.

I had such a day today and was suprised that there was a plane crash considering that we had not had such a news in over 5 years and the confidence in the airline mode of transportation rising daily with more people choosing it over road travel.

There are a number of concerns that comes to my mind about this incident
1) In terms of keeping to time and flying on schedule, this airline in my opinion is number 1. It is a faily new airline but they hit the ground running and tried to build a reputation as the airline of choice. I know a lot of people who began to use them routinely just because they made sure their word was their bond.

2) After the incident, a lot of people began to come forward with tales of recent experience that saw delay in their flight program from the same airline and how this was due to issues with the plane. If this was true, could it be the sign of cracks in the armor? Was the success achieved in a short time beginning to cause changes in the commencement principles? Had the experience of the previous years been forgotten in a short time?

3) Now that this has happened, Will questions be asked of the authorities about an investigation into what happened and how long that will take and if help will be sought from people who have a sophisticated system of investigating air crashes? Will questions be asked of the checks and approval processes that allows a plane to take off from an airport? does such a thing exist? was it done for this particular flight? These are some questions an investigation should bring out answers for.

4) How will this affect the brand of the airline? will people still buy tickets like they did prior to this incident?

I really hope and pray that the other airlines learn from this incident and re-check their system over and over again to ensure that they don’t get the unwanted label of an airline that killed people.
It is easier to do something right than to explain why you did it wrong. I pray that this will be the last air disaster in this country in many many years to come. Amen.

By the way I became an uncle again today. 😉
