I have tried to write this month but every single day kept bring its own challenge as the month rolled by. I basically had something fill every single free time and when the something did not require labor, it had to give way to rest.
Going Through the Days
So apart from the hectic schedule at work, there was the ‘small’ issue of learning about the theology of Thomas Aquinas from the perspective of his Summa Theologica. The summary of that experience is that well ahead of our time, Thomas had spent time thinking deeply about issues concerning our walk with God in this life and had chosen to use all the intellectual tools available to him to explain these issues in the light of the word of God and the teachings of the church.
It is really no surprise that people have turned back to him to learn, from him ways in which the assault posed today towards the faith could be handled.
While learning that, the place of the Hebrew poetry in the canon of scriptures was also imbibed. The beauty of the Book of Psalms and of the Prophet Isaiah came to life, showing the depth of the riches of the word of God. In these books, we see the various literary devices used to explain deep things to common people that their understanding might be reached.
We see the Suffering servant speak the words of life concerning his role, goals and mission. The word of God is just so powerful.
All in all, the month has been loaded and here we are at the end of the month. If I do not post this today, then the window is gone but as I have done it now, then I have hope that the future months to come will be better.
